Portkeys Remote Controls LS7P Editorial Review

The Portkeys LS7P 7" Camera Field Monitor is garnering attention for its large and bright display, which is a significant upgrade for those transitioning from smaller monitors like the Ninja V. Users appreciate the generous screen size which enhances the shooting experience, particularly in terms of visibility and detail. Many have highlighted the convenience of features such as the freeze frame function and USB connectivity, making it a versatile choice for various filming setups. However, there are notable concerns regarding the built-in fan, which has been described as "obnoxiously loud." This issue could be a dealbreaker for users who operate in quiet environments or rely on sensitive microphones. While there are options to adjust the fan speed to reduce noise, it does not completely eliminate the sound, prompting some users to Consider returning the monitor. Additionally, reports of glitches within the menu system, especially when interfaced with the latest iPads, suggest that there may be areas for improvement in software stability. Some users have also experienced issues with screen brightness, particularly in outdoor settings, leaving them perplexed about the functionality. Overall, while the Portkeys LS7P has many positive attributes and stands out for its display quality and ease of use, potential buyers should weigh these benefits against the issues related to noise and occasional performance glitches before making a purchase. **
