The screw is very tiny, and users will need a Phillips head screwdriver, the same size used for glasses, to open it. If the battery separator isn't removed, then the light won't work. Some customers have had difficulties opening the compartment, even with proper tools, and have been unable to use their light as a result. Overall, this is a great product with a significant flaw in the battery compartment.
