Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question:
What are Dubia roaches and why are they popular as feeders?
Answer: Dubia roaches are a type of tropical cockroach known for their nutritional profile and ease of care. They are packed with protein, fat, and moisture, making them an ideal food source for reptiles, amphibians, and birds. Their popularity stems from their low odor, minimal noise, and the fact that they don't climb smooth surfaces, making them easier to manage than other feeder insects. Many pet owners rely on them to provide a well-rounded diet for their pets, especially for species that require live feeding. -
Question:
How should I store Dubia roaches?
Answer: Dubia roaches should be kept in a well-ventilated container at room temperature, ideally between 75°F and 90°F. It’s important to provide them with ample access to moisture through fruits or vegetables to help maintain their hydration. A proper substrate like oatmeal or cardboard can also help in keeping them healthy. Additionally, keeping them in a dark area reduces stress and encourages breeding, which is beneficial for those looking to maintain a steady supply. -
Question:
Are Dubia roaches safe for my pets?
Answer: Yes, Dubia roaches are a safe and healthy option for a variety of pets, including reptiles and amphibians. Because they are low in chitin compared to other feeder insects, they are easier to digest. Furthermore, they do not carry diseases that can affect your pets. When providing them as food, ensure they are properly gut-loaded with nutritious foods prior to feeding to maximize their health benefits to your animal. -
Question:
How many Dubia roaches should I feed my pet?
Answer: The quantity of Dubia roaches to feed a pet depends on the species, size, and age of your animal. As a general guideline, juvenile reptiles might consume about 10-15 roaches, whereas adults might require 20 or more at each feeding. Always observe your pet's behavior and adjust the quantities accordingly. Monitoring your pet's weight and health is crucial to ensure they are receiving the right nutrition for their growth and overall well-being. -
Question:
Can I breed Dubia roaches at home?
Answer: Absolutely! Breeding Dubia roaches at home is quite feasible and can yield a continuous supply of feeders. To breed them, provide a warm, dark environment with plenty of food and moisture. Using an appropriate container for separation of different life stages can help manage population growth. Ensure that the breeding setup is larger than one might typically use for keeping roaches, as they reproduce quickly. Many hobbyists find this not only convenient but also rewarding. -
Question:
What should I feed my Dubia roaches?
Answer: Dubia roaches thrive on a varied diet that includes fresh fruit, vegetables, and high-quality dry food. Common options include oats, leafy greens, carrot slices, and squash. This diet helps maintain their health and, in turn, enhances the nutrients they pass on to your pets. It’s essential to avoid acidic or high-water-content foods, as these can lead to mold growth in their habitat. A balanced diet ensures they remain a nutritious food source. -
Question:
What is the lifespan of a Dubia roach?
Answer: Dubia roaches can live for about 1.5 to 2 years under optimal conditions. Their life cycle includes multiple stages from egg to nymph to adult, with warmer temperatures accelerating their growth. Individuals can reach maturity in around 4-6 months. Adequate care and a nutritious diet can prolong their lifespan, making them very resilient feeder insects. This lifespan is advantageous for those breeding them for regular feeding needs. -
Question:
Are Dubia roaches a good alternative to crickets?
Answer: Yes, Dubia roaches are often considered a superior alternative to crickets for pet feeding. They have a higher nutritional value, are easier to digest, and do not produce the same level of odor as crickets. Additionally, Dubia roaches are less prone to escape from breeding or storage containers. Many pet owners prefer them because they provide consistent nutrition for pets and require less maintenance than crickets. -
Question:
Can I buy Dubia roaches in bulk?
Answer: Yes, buying Dubia roaches in bulk is a common practice, especially for those with multiple pets or those who breed reptiles. Purchasing in larger quantities not only ensures a steady supply but also reduces the frequency of transactions. Many suppliers offer bulk packs like the 25 Large Dubia Roaches, which makes it easy to plan ahead for feeding schedules. This is particularly convenient for pet enthusiasts who want to save time and effort. -
Question:

Answer: To purchase 25 Large Dubia Roaches, you can visit Ubuy in Iceland. Ubuy offers a convenient platform to access various products, including Dubia roaches, ensuring that you can easily find and purchase the quantity you need for your pets.
